Pictorial
A portrait project that captures the essence of “De Profundis” translated from latin: Out of the depths.
Exploring themes of human suffering, spiritual growth and ultimately redemption to describe pictorially the human condition through ones journey through grief.
The project uses various lighting techniques to convey these themes and combines symbolic imagery, with rich dark shadows.
The photographs are arranged in short series to create a sense of anticipation and curiosity about what’s to come, whether it’s progression or regression in our own lives. Not only the questions raised by the beautiful and captivating expression of our subject.
De Profundis I: (The absence)
Grief has a way of making us feel like the ground has fallen out from beneath our feet, plunging us into a relentless freefall of helplessness. It's as if the very foundation of our existence has crumbled, leaving us suspended in a void of uncertainty and pain. In this state of emotional turmoil, every step forward feels like a precarious balancing act, and every moment is filled with a profound sense of disorientation. The world around us loses its coherence, and we find ourselves grappling with an overwhelming sense of loss. Yet, amidst the chaos, there's a poignant reminder of our shared humanity—the raw, unfiltered experience of grief that binds us together in our vulnerability. As we navigate this uncharted territory, we cling to the fragile threads of hope, seeking solace in the warmth of compassion and the promise of healing that lies ahead.
